Stilentwicklung - Wiener Stadtwerke Holding AG
The Wiener Stadtwerke aim to be perceived as forward-thinking, sustainable, goal-oriented, and reliable. Sector coupling is intended to make Vienna largely emission-free in the future and provide energy cost-efficiently. Therefore, the style should not only be technical but also retain a certain humanity and authenticity. My goal in developing this illustration style was to combine these requirements while ensuring a high level of recognizability for the Wiener Stadtwerke.
The background of the scenes, consisting of the primary colors of the Wiener Stadtwerke, appears serious through the color gradient, thereby generating trust, while subtle highlights in Wiener Stadtwerke light blue subtly direct the focus. The isometric perspective (parallel perspective) makes elements appear three-dimensional, providing optimal conditions for the spatial representation of energy flow.
Additionally, most illustrations are placed on “islands,” giving them better stability within the space. Decorative elements in the form of smaller islands and delicate lines act as a supportive secondary element. Light effects visualize the flow of energy, separate elements from the background, and create dynamism. By using the light secondary colors against an overall darker background, additional contrast is generated, making essential elements immediately stand out. The relatively high level of detail in the individual illustrations makes them appear realistic and technical, but not too futuristic. This makes the style approachable and authentic.
